Thirst is tackling the world’s water scarcity crisis by educating and engaging the next
generation of global consumers.
We are a community of water ambassadors and changemakers who truly believe in the power
of the individual to make a difference.
Who we are
Thirst is an initiative of the World Economic Forum's Young Global
Leaders, a unique, multistakeholder community of more than 700 exceptional young
leaders who share a commitment to shaping the future.
Thirst aspires to be the world's leading water community, affecting
change in society by making consumers aware of the value of water.
Our vision is a future where supply of water is greater than demand,
where there is enough water for all, forever.
What we do
We began as a small group of change-makers and key opinion leaders, targeting one of the most influential consumer groups in the world: millennials (12-24 year olds) in the growing global middle class.
Our small, international team spans three continents, drawing on varied cultures and experiences to develop campaigns and education modules that have a global impact.
We harness the power of social media, in combination with on-campus communications and events to encourage young people to think about, use and consume water more sustainably, and spread this message to their friends and family.
Thirst's key Goals
Educate the world’s youth to become responsible water citizens, managing their own water use and the use of those around them
Promote and develop the use of water efficient technology, systems and products
Grow consumer demand for waterwise products and thereby inspire companies to use and promote waterwise processes and products
Increase consumer awareness of invisible water
Since the launch of our programs we have achieved:
students have graduated from the WE Water Experience Education module
people have been reached by our events, workshops and activities in 2017
students helped us set a Guinness World Record for the largest human water dragon
million people have seen our water saving messages

Transparent We are a model of transparency, integrity and honesty. Donors and the wider public know exactly where we spend our money. When we make mistakes, we own up to them.
Clever We know that nerds are cool, and that access to accurate information and data is empowering.
Connected We speak as a human, not a corporation, and we are serious about the social side to social media. We are talking to everyone, from key influencers and decision makers to concerned consumers.
Genuine We practice what we preach, and are committed to environmental efficiency as individuals and as an organization.
We are a not-for-profit organization in Hong Kong, and legally operate through a Wholly Owned Foreign Entity (“WOFE”) in China. We comply with all regulations in the jurisdictions in which we operate and provide monthly financial reports to our investors, as well as video and documentary evidence of our activities. These are in addition to our more formal annual and semi-annual reports.
